Sandwiches of Baristaville

In part 2 of the article, Sandwiches of Baristville, by Carolyn Maynard Parisi, in her continued quest to find the best sandwich shops, turned her attention to Montclair, New Jersey. Along with Baristanet’s intrepid Daily Editor Erika Bleiberg, their first stop — by his urging — was Nicolo’s Italian Bakery & Deli.

Erica had noted, “Once you know about it, you keep coming back. It’s kind of like a religious cult.”

Carolyn went on to review the profile and history of the venue and spoke with staff and customers alike. A customer who was with his young child said, “I’ve been coming here forever.  Legend has it that my dad was their first customer in 1967.”  He smiled and added fondly, “The bread hasn’t changed.”
